I make small figurative paintings as a means of exploring ideas of intimacy and relationships. All my paintings are made from photographs which I collect from a variety of sources. I make paintings from family snap shots and newspaper clippings and any other images that enter my life. My choices are deeply personal and intuitive and the images I choose become part of my intimate personal language.
All of my painting decisions are deeply intuitive. I use the repetition of an image as a way of folding it deeper and deeper into a relationship with myself until I get to a point where its meaning is lost and also reborn in a kind of fantastic, hysterical moment. |
